Child annual health screening medical
A comprehensive yearly health check is also offered for children but has a different emphasis to the adult medical.
In children it is important to look for congenital and inherited disorders, to detect conditions that may affect normal growth or development and to monitor their growth and development against accepted normal standards. It is important to detect any variation from normal as soon as possible in order for corrective action to be taken. Children's hearing is particularly important to their social and educational development and especial attention is paid to this.
The children's medical includes:
- General medical examination
- Height & weight measurements plotted against standards for age
- Developmental assessment
- Cardio-pulmonary assessment including lung function tests
- Eyesight tests
- Audiometric assessment including hearing test & tympanometry
The child's health and progress is carefully charted and monitored from year to year. The examination and test results are discussed with the parents and recommendations made regarding the future health care of their child.
